In 1992 Preferred Development purchased a large portion of the former Chanute Airforce Base that comprised twenty buildings including a 220,000 sf former enlisted officers’ quarters and a golf course. The EOQ was converted into a 280-room independent and assisted living facility (Prairie Village Retirement Community) which Preferred continues to own and operate today. The golf course was upgraded (new greens, re-grading of fairways/bunkers and new drainage system) and continues to successfully function as a Willow Pond public golf course.
The Bureau of Motor vehicles, Department of Child Services, Family Social Services Administration and Arbor Education & Training (re-training downsized workforce) are all tenants in a number of our properties throughout Indiana.
